Mr. Hammond is married with three children and is able to work comfortably in both English and French. Mr. Hammond graduated from Bishop's University with a Bachelor of Arts in 1967 and then from Queen's University with a Bachelor of Law in 1971. He was called to the Ontario Bar in the spring of 1973, and has continuously practiced law in Eastern Ontario since that date. Over the years, the emphasis in Mr. Hammond's legal practice has been in the areas of family and civil litigation. His clientele has included individuals, families, businesses, municipalities and, as a Crown agent, both federal and provincial ministries including Excise and Customs, Fisheries and the Ministry of Natural Resources. Mr. Hammond has appeared before all levels of the Ontario Court systems and a variety of tribunals. In February 1995 Mr. Hammond joined his spouse Elizabeth Osborne in the partnership Hammond & Osborne, which has its offices in Brockville, Ontario. The emphasis in this practice is family litigation, together with incidental matters of more general nature including real estate and wills and estates. Mr. Hammond received his training in family mediation from Dr. Barbara Laudau and her firm Cooperative Solutions. Mr. Hammond is a member of Family Mediation Canada and the Ontario Association for Family Mediation from whom he has received accreditation as a family mediator. Mr. Hammond has been assisting couples in family mediation since 1996 with particular emphasis on the resolution of issues pertaining to parenting arrangements, child and spousal support and equalization or division of property. Mr. Hammond has had extensive involvement in the affairs of his community. He is the past Chair of the Brockville Community Foundation and sits on its Asset Development Committee. He is a past President of the Brockville and District Chamber of Commerce and has served as a Director of the Brockville General Hospital, the Brockville Concert Association, Leeds and Grenville Interval House, the Brockville and Area Community Living Association and the Brockville Public Library.
