Barbara Castel is a trained facilitator and mediator who expertly borrows methods from solution focused brief therapy (SFBT). Building on her long history with the Limestone District School Board and her current Ph.D. candidacy in the Queen’s University Department of Education, Castel broadens her understanding of community relations to include organizations, members of the military who are experiencing the effects of post-traumatic stress disorder, youth in the Canadian justice system, patients in rehabilitation centres who are experiencing memory loss related to personal trauma, in-mates in federal detention centres, and groups facing conflict situations within their community.

Castel’s official credentials include certification in Advanced Mediation (2013) from The Mediation Centre of Southeastern Ontario (MCSO); Resolve Kingston certification from the Kingston Community Counselling Centres Mediation & Conflict Resolution and Restorative Justice program (2010) and; Conflict Resolution & Intermediate Mediation Certification (2009) from MCSO.

Her above mediation accreditation build upon her credentials as a certified Solution-Focused Counselling Trainer (2013) which she obtained at the University of Toronto; certification in International Society for Sandplay Therapy (2009) obtained in Zurich, Switzerland.
